Highfields Pioneer Village is a non-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers dedicated to preserving the history of the Darling Downs for future generations. The Village has Disabled Access, Toilets, Picnic area, BBQ facilities, craft workshops, educational & memory tours for groups.
The Village is situated just 15 mins drive north of Toowoomba, 3 km off the New England Highway. The Village covers an area of 20 acres of picturesque grounds with pleasant surroundings and picnic facilities and comprises of over 60 historic buildings open to the public 10:00 am to 4:00pm daily.
Our volunteers specialise in educational tours for school children, catering the tour to suit your needs.  Our tours include demonstrations of age- old crafts such as blacksmithing, silversmithing, Damper Making, Spinning and Heritage Farming. Our Pioneer Puppet Show tells the story of the Darling Downs from 1840 to 1900 and suits all age groups. Our Aboriginal Culture Tour is a great addition to a full day tour and teaches children Aboriginal Dance, Boomerang painting or throwing and includes a Didgeridoo performance.

Aboriginal Tour:
Visit the Jandowae National Bank-you may even be held up by Ned Kelly, the infamous Bush Ranger! Schools can enjoy a re-enactment by volunteers and hear about Ned's Story, was he a villain? or a hero? What do you think?


Highfields Pioneer Village has a large range of vintage cars, trucks and tractors. Amongst the collections is a Barber Greene Trench Digger formally used by the Toowoomba City Council.Among the displays is a fine collection of antique radios and electrical appliances from a bygone era.
 The Village Fashion Shop features an original silk wedding dress from the 1890's. The unique collection of Tinsmithing machinery is housed at the Village and the fascade on the building is a replica of the old Toowoomba Spring Works. The historic Gore Railway Station now takes pride of place at the Highfields Pioneer Village also. The B.J Palmer Boot repair Shop is a testament to a time when life was much simpler. No matter how old you are there is something for everyone at Highfields Pioneer Village!
