The Hunter Wetlands Centre

The Hunter Wetlands Centre is a great place for school excursions and is  one of Newcastle’s best kept secrets - an award winning Ramsar listed wetlands of international significance only 10 mins from the centre of Newcastle!  If you think of wetlands generally as a bit of swamp and that’s it – then you are in for a great surprise. Experience our visitors centre with displays of frogs, fish, blue tongues, bearded dragons, Eastern Long neck turtles, water dragons, snakes and even a freshwater crocodile on display. Interactive reptile talks are on offer that gives visitors a chance to touch and have their photo taken with the animals. The Hunter Wetlands Centre changes all the time with the seasons
